Vaccinations, health checks, passports and microchipping

Equus vets offer a range of routine visits from vaccinations to OAP health checks. We advise owners that their horses should be vaccinated against Equine Influenza and Tetanus. A primary course of Influenza and Tetanus consists of two injections 4-6 weeks apart and then a third injection 120-180 days from the second injection. The annual booster is then 365 days from the third injection. They cannot go a day over this annual date. However, at the very least all horses and donkeys should be vaccinated against Tetanus (primary course two injections 4-6wks apart and then bi-annually). We can also vaccinate against Equine Herpes Virus (EHV) & Rotavirus, please contact the office for more details.
At every inoculation the vet carries out a thorough clinical examination and a free dental check if required. Questions on your horse’s health, diet and worming is always welcomed!
We offer passporting/ identification and microchipping to comply with the new laws. It is now law that all equines have their own passports and are microchipped. A veterinary surgeon is required to fill out the identification form and insert a microchip. There are various different passport agencies that horses can be registered to and all can be found online with instructions on how to apply for one.
