Dental Services

Dental care is an important part of your horse’s welfare. We recommend they have a dental examination at least every 12 months to keep them pain free and healthy.
An adult horse has 36 teeth and unlike humans their teeth continually erupt by 3-4mm a year. Sharp points can occur on the molars which are routinely rasped down. Hooks can also occur which should be removed.
All our team are fully equipped and trained to perform routine dentistry with a range of motorised and handheld equipment. Our portable x-ray machine can radiograph heads/teeth for more complex dental cases. Our portable oroscope (a camera on a flexible rod) allows better visualisation of the back molars.
Our vets also carry sedation with them so if your horse is struggling to cope, we have various sedatives to suit your horse.
Dental procedures we perform:
- The routine dental check and rasp
- Removal of wolf teeth
- Filling of diastemas
- Extractions
- Further diagnostics with portable equipment.
